Dude, where did you get a pickguard like that? I want one that's really lime green. Like a retro lime green. Do you know where I can get one like that? Thanks. :D
-
cool. but your playing the song wrong. sorry!
-
That is creative, but I think it would look even cooler if you moved the LEDs directly under each of the pickups. That way the center and source of the light would be more hidden and all you'd have is the glow silhouetting each pickup

Howd you do the LEDs??

I didnt buy it like that. It was clear as i bought it online at a german vendor for custom guitar parts. its sanded and painted neon green.
You could simply get a piece of satined plexiglass in the right strength and draw the shape of your pickguard on it, then cut it out with a jigsaw. smoothen the edges, drill holes and youre good to go.

I think about 8-9 hours, depending on how many LEDs and which battery you use and how bright you set them. with a 400 mAh Battery it would be 8,5 hours max.
all in all it was about 30 €, which is about $38 usd.

Sure you could, but if you dont use a transparent pickguard like mine made of plexiglass, you will have deeper color tone. but you can determine that by using the right paint of course. but be aware that the paint gets scratched off if you dont use several layers of clear coat over the green coat.

I was fortunate enough to be able to buy the pickguard ready to use from an online vendor for about 15 $, but i also cut through some before. Use a reciprocating saw with low speed, if the saw cuts too fast it melts the plexiglass and the mold closes the cut right after cutting. Medium saw blade. You can soften and bevel the edge with a sand belt. The pickup holes are cut best with a jigsaw. Drill a hole in the middle and then cut out the outline. The holes for the knobs are drilled too.

The Pickguard is clear plexiglass which was sanded and then painted with glowy green paint (you need a plastic base coat layer). I did it on the front, but the back would be better so you cant scratch it off. I didnt think it would be that transparent.
For the light you need LEDs, matching resistors, 2 batteries or a 9V-Block and patience with a soldering iron.
You need a switch as well, i used an on-off-potentiometer so it looks like its part of the guitar and you can dim the lights, too.
