After a microburst destroys several trees at Sandy Point, we wonder, can the birch trees be saved?

  • Yes, thanks! They are still standing--at least they made it through the following winter/summer. Year two is currently underway. We'll see when we return to Sandy Point in May.

  • A microburst is a very localized column of sinking air, producing damaging divergent and straight-line winds at the surface that are similar to but distinguishable from tornadoes which generally have convergent damage.
