  • Yes the Coen brothers did a remake. I like them usually but hated that film. There's also an up and coming Westend Production starting this Autumn with Peter Capaldi and adapted by Graham Linehan.

  • Herbert Lom is so cool in this movie. Blooddy brilliant from start to finish.

  • I agree. Personally prefer Lom in this to his performance in the Pink Panther.

  • I don't think the full film is available on youtube but it is usually relatively cheap to buy on DVD.

  • Oh I don't know it! To me the 1955 version is a Master piece.

  • The original is way way better than the re-make. As regards to comedies either side of the great pond...I'm a Brit and the British have made some great comdies but if I had to pick three of which I believe are the best, Sgt Bilko would be one of them. Fawlty Towers also. The 3rd would be too hard to choose and stay with that choice so won't try to list it here and now.

  • @alkalinecuban He's also in Star Wars lol.

  • J'adore ce film, quel délice and so british ! Un régal !

  • The re-make is fucking shit. This is a great british masterpiece.

I can think of 100 reasons why this is better and another 100 more why the american one is shit. The americans should stick to eating burgers and shooting people and let the experts handle the comedy and film industry

  • sorry its "Coen".

  • is this the movie the Cohen brothers remade? or was the Cohen film not a remake>?

  • This sinister smile on Alec Guinness..

  • The american voice over is sooooo ANNOYING.

  • One of the funnies 50's films I have seen. I have just finished watchi ng it on an old VHS, theirs nothing like racking through doesens of old tapes to see what tresures you have to offer.

  • sorry to have to point this out, but movie is american, film is britsih. No idea why i know that
