Oh, duh, I was analyzing the bottom of the video and noticed the missing key, but completely missed the relevance.

At ~ 3:04 you pan passed a missing key on the keyboard. If you know the layout of a QWERTY keyboard intimately you would already know which key was missing, otherwise you'd have to look down.
