The global average surface temperature in 2011 was the ninth warmest since 1880.The finding sustains a trend that has seen the 21st century experience nine of the 10 warmest years in the modern meteorological record. NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) in New York released an analysis of how temperatures around the globe in 2011 compared to the average global temperature from the mid-20th century. The comparison shows how Earth continues to experience higher temperatures than several decades ago. The average temperature around the globe in 2011 was 0.92 degrees F (0.51 C) higher than the mid-20th century baseline.

@longbowrocks the video does not indicated the poles are the hottest places in the world. This video indicates that the poles are warming up the fastest which is proof of an increasing greenhouse effect as opposed to the warming be attributable to the Sun.

Thank goodness for cyclical, natural warming. It wasn't as nice back there before the little ice age ended about 1850. Let's pray for more global warming 'cause it looks like we may be headed into another LIA. Brrrrrr, and bad for food production.

Data source: NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies. This is Dr. Hansen's group of 150 college students & computer programmers in a corner of one building on the campus of Columbia University in NYC, who think they understand climate science. Meanwhile, the REAL NASA Goddard (Space Flight Center) is located in Greenbelt, MD spread across square miles of land & more than 40 buildings. Even NASA Marshall scientists have more knowledge of climate science (Dr. Spencer, working with satellite data)
