So many flaws. Iran has no capabilites to launch anywhere near the us. Nor could an iranian sub get into us waters undetected. As for a scaled invasion of 2 countries by iran, one being occupied by isaf and nato forces highly unlikely. Nukes being used in a conflict with iran, nah.

Adored the point at 04:45 - "Objects in mirror are closer than they appear." I can tell you saw that in your head as a catalyst - really great metaphor.
Are there logistical issues with the film? Sure. Is it a look into how "that day" would be? Sure! Really outstanding stuff.

@OreadNYC listen, I typed this comment a year and a few months ago. If that would happen, the soil would be iradiated from the fallout and I would get radiation sickness and die. I was younger at the time. But there's no underground bomb shelters in FL and barely anything underground since Florida is only 8ft above sea level. So, the only way for me to survive is to hope to God that the winds do not spread the fallout in my direction. I would have to flee to the everglades to survive.

@tomken8dy -- What else can you do? Not a lot...in fact, if movies like "Threads" and "The War Game" (which make "The Day After" look positively tame by comparison) are even remotely accurate, there probably isn't a lot you'd *want* to do since it seems likely that the people who died in the initial blasts (from the fireball, the shockwave, or the radiation) would be the fortunate ones.

@CrazedNovaProduction -- You're gonna do all that in 30 minutes?? Mm, hm...riiiiight.
I have to assume you're being facetious You mean you seriously think that in half an hour -- provided you actually had that long! -- you would actually be able to dig a trench large enough for yourself and your girlfriend to stay in for at least two weeks (long enough for the radiation from fallout to diminish to safe levels) *and* stock up enough food, water, and ammo for two weeks?

This looks like one of the animated cartoons on the I Am Legend DVD.

@MegaFallout2012 There is an already existing threat: The United States of America, the most warlike country in the post cold war era. Reagan believed in peace through strength. I agree with that on a fundamental level. Bullies prey on the weak not the strong, so I believe in maintaining the strongest defense.
But I don't believe in peace through perpetual war which is our current policy. Reagan is turning over in his grave.
Please God never let anything like this ever happen!

God will not hear you pray though last screams of billions, as they are embraced by apocalyptic fires!

I like that the submarine launches missiles against America and they have United States Military written on them... thats pretty profound

@scatteredmist
Pretty profound of you, that is.
That's an Ohio class launching tridents.

@scatteredmist The range of a Trident 2 SLBM is a bit under 5000 miles so yes they can be launched right off the California coast and hit many targets in Russia, China and maybe Pakistan. Of course in the middle of a war against Iran you might wonder why a sub wouldn't be deployed closer due to the pre-emptive capabilities of SLBMs. But its a minor flaw in a fairly well done video. It is a cool touch though: A paradise's eye view of the launch.

Boomers, unlike attack subs, often lurk closer to home shores.
There's no need to subject them to potential enemy's hunter killers.
A foreign strategic missile sub close to own territorial waters is a political move, and less a strategic one. For it is most likely being traced and tacked, and is very vulnerable, and will be destroyed the moment it goes into launch sequence.
