Many people say that speaking in public is one of the most nerve racking things they have to do. There are a few techniques to help you control your nerves. * Be prepared. Generally speaking you will find the more prepared you are the less nervous you will be. * Have a stretch. Bend forward, backwards, left and right. Stretch your arms. * Do the mouth and lip exercises that I demonstrated in tip number 9.

But the most valuable tip I can give is to focus on the audience and not on yourself. If you're speaking and focusing on * How do I sound? * How do I look? * What are they thinking of me? * How long before I get off?

That is when you'll get nervous

If you focus on: * Teaching your audience * Entertaining your audience * Inspiring your audience

the focus will be on your audience and not on you. As a result your nerves will eventually disappear.

  • im really have a problem with my voice...my voice shakes when i speak in a crowd.

  • man, im in an honors english class as a freshman and i have to give a 3 minute openings speech for a debate. Its weird because in most of my classes im comfortable speaking out loud, Im actually kind or outgoing in a few. Its just this class. Maybe its the fact it has no windows or maybe i feel intimidated because there is a lot of smart people in the class. At least i know ill feel really relieved once its over.

  • Fuck it I'll just make a fool of myself. Nobody there likes me anyway.

  • I have to give a presentation to my Spanish class in Spanish AND I DON'T SPEAK SPANISH

  • @ELIshei Me too

  • I was so nervous about facing a crowd and I also had a heap of social anxiety.I would shake stammer and even faint if forced to give a speech. I took some clonazepam then other stuff all to gether. once my body was saturated with these stuff (3 days) I jumped off a train with no fear of pain or death. I proposed to two girls, danced in front of the whole college to which they gave a loud applause. in the end I almost died of stevens jhonson syndrom , suffered hell on earth for a whole month .

  • Shit I got a graduation requirement speech tomorrow and this helps a little, thanks

  • Im nervous for my Speech.. At school :p

  • i have this big debate 2m and im so nervous 'cause my voice gets shaky and i forget everything :/ im so tensed!!

  • Works well if you focus on the fact that you are helping the audience to understand valuable information. You are contributing to society on a grand scale and this alone is more important than you standing on a podium. Like a flight attendant in an airplane or a health safety officer at a convention, they all play an important role and so the information they provide must be clear precise and to the point in order to educate as many minds as possible.
