SIDE IMPACT TEST WITH STANDARD SIDE AIRBAGS
OVERALL EVALUATION: Poor
Injury measures Head protection Structure/safety cage
Head/neck Torso Pelvis/leg
Driver Good Poor Acceptable Good Marginal
Rear passenger Acceptable Acceptable Good Marginal
Important: Side impact crash test ratings can be compared across vehicle type and weight categories.
Test details:
The Hyundai Elantra was redesigned for the 2001 model year.
Injury measures:
Driver — Measures taken from the dummy indicate that rib fractures and/or internal organ injuries would be likely in a crash of this severity. A left femur fracture also would be possible.
Rear passenger — Measures taken from the dummy indicate that head injuries plus rib fractures would be possible in a crash of this severity.
Head protection:
Driver — The dummy's head was protected from being hit by any hard structures, including the intruding barrier, by a side airbag that deployed from the seat.
Rear passenger — The dummy's head was hit by the window frame, glass, and sill of the rear passenger door, producing moderately high head injury measures.
Crap. I have one of these.

That's not good. Being killed in a car crash would really take away from the overall driving experience.

I can describe this in 1 word: DEATH. This is the ONLY side crash test that the rear passenger did better that I've seen so far.

Да уж, смотря что случилось с головой манекена, сидящего, за рулем при наличии боковой подушки...страшно было бы попасть в такую аварию на версии без таковой...а ведь достаточно людей на таких ездит.
