  • I'm not frightened. I'm not frightened of anything. The more I suffer, the more I love. Danger will only increase my love. It will sharpen it, FORGIVE ITS VICE. I will be the only angel you need. You will leave life even more beautiful than you entered it. Heaven will take you back and look at you and say: Only one thing can make a soul complete and that thing is love.

:) just coreecting thnaks a lot for uploading best vid and already in favorite!

  • what is the name of the song?

  • @559Josh

I had the same experience-- there were many beautiful passages in the play, but I couldn't find this specific passage.

  • ....and confess with delight that love alone can give perfection to the soul.

    -- Schiller

  • ......Then speak no more of terrors, my love! I myself—I will watch over thee carefully as the enchanter's dragon watches over buried gold. Trust thyself to me! thou shalt need no other angel. I will throw myself between thee and fate— for thee receive each wound. For thee will I catch each drop distilled from the cup of joy, and bring thee in the bowl of love. This arm shall support my Louisa through life. Fairer than it dismissed thee, shall heaven receive thee back.....

I found this in the Project Gutenburg translation: it's signficantly different from the movie so it was hard to find. It's close to the end of Scene III.

"I fear nothing—nothing but that your affection should know bounds. Let obstacles rise between us, huge as mountains, I will look upon them as a ladder by which to fly into the arms of my Louisa! The tempest of opposing fate shall but fan the flame of my affection dangers will only serve to make Louisa yet more charming....."

  • Love this scene. Soo beautiful

I read somewhere that this quote was from Schiller's 1784 "Love and Intrigue" also so I downloaded it from the Gutenberg Project & searched the entire play for parts of this quote and was unable to find it (or something similar). Would you please tell me WHERE in his play it can be found...or is this just ANOTHER internet myth that's floating around???

Regardless, it's beautiful, but I would LOVE to READ the context in which it was written.

    Thanks in advance,

    JSLM
