My personal digital camera highlights of Columbus Georgia's and sister city Phenix City Alabama's 4th of July Riverfront Fireworks display known as: "Thunder on the Hooch".... 2011. The first view is of the Phenix City Amphitheater. You can see Georgia across the river behind the bandstand. Columbus has an Amphitheater as well facing Alabama at the same spot on the river. (An earthen one in front of the CSU Arts Campus Theater) The next view is of myself standing literally in the middle of the Chattahoochee River on the dry river bed. (We've been having a severe drought) You could literally walk from the Alabama side of the river and then walk across the river to within a few yards of the Georgia side! I was facing the Georgia side in this camera view towards Columbus' CSU Downtown campus. I was literally in the middle of the river! BEST SEATS IN THE HOUSE! And I never got my feet wet! :-)
Thanks for posting! I setup this display! I have a video on my channel that I posted in 07' you can see what it looks like launching from the racks on the parking deck. I hope you enjoyed this year's show!

The river is so low because they have water diverted while they are working on getting things ready to remove the dams.
