Visit to Shibuya, Tokyo on March 13th, 2011 around 7PM to meet up with international friends for earthquake comfort and relief.

Big screen televisions are turned off to save power, scheduled power outages starting tomorrow March 14th surrounding the Tokyo-Metropolis area.

This is the most silent Shibuya-Kosaten I have ever seen.

I have also visited electronic stores the day before, all electronics shops closed early at 8PM, and most display electronics were turned off.

After visiting a few stores, we finally found 1 battery powered cellphone charger in stock. Convenience stores and markets remain empty.

Most restaurants, bars, cafes, and some fast food restaurants are open with shorter than regular open hours.

I hope best for the north-eastern area of Japan, and all who have been affected by this disaster.

Thank you for watching.

  • @ShimaUta86 Sure was! It seems like they started showing advertisements on the big screens recently, so things may go back to usual soon, maybe? Anyways, hoping for the best.

  • I was there yesterday and it was weird not seeing the big screens on. Everyone is doing their part to conserve energy. Japan will bounce back strong. PEACE!
