Recording with scenes viewed from Phoenix Firestorm viewer. Ji Lee, Creative Director at Google (awesomely impressive title) and designer of the "Bubble Project" (amongst many other things) has re-designed the chess board. Lee's version transforms the flat playing surface into a 3 dimensional battleground that better visually represents the play taking place. "The three-dimensional chess board adds an extra dimension of physicality to the game's battle field" says Lee, "The King looks less obtainable, now that he is set on his shared pedestal with his wife." I have been wondering whether the new form could also impact function, could it actually have an impact on gameplay?
