My name is Bill Harlen
I'm a God fearin' man
From the lost rebel army
A Tennessee calvary man
From Shiloh to Nashville
We made our last stand
When the battles were over
Everything we had was gone with the wind
But I still had my family
And a hope and a dream
And I heard of gold fever in the Rocky Mountain stream
So we took what we had and some gold diggin' gear
And we headed for new life on the Northwest Frontier

Montana Territory, where the winters are cold
The land's full of game and the creeks are full of gold
Just west of the mountains is a town they call Gibbonsville
You can sure get gold fever, you can damn sure get killed
But I state my claim, I was raring to go
I made up my mind and I set out to find the Gibbonsville gold

Oh you find just a little
Just enough to get by
Aw ya dig and ya dig
And ya start wonderin why
There's a whole lot more down there
I don't have to be told
I made up my mind and I'm gonna find that Gibbonsville gold

Every morning at daylight
With the pick and the pan
Keep an eye out for the black beak
Keep a rifle near hand
Backshooters and grizzlies
Better stay alert all the time
Cause the only law here in this wild country is the gun and the knife

In the year of our Lord, 1869
I lost my dear son to a cave in at the mine
Yes I know he's gone
Please God rest his soul
So many have died trying to find this damned Gibbonsville gold
Yea you find just a little
Just enough to get by
Aw ya dig and ya dig
And ya start wonderin why
Then someone finds a nugget
Just as big as your thumb
And we all go hard at it
From sun until sun
Yea I gotta find it
That mean motherload
I've made up my mind
And I swear to find that Gibbonsville gold
There's a whole lot more down there
My share of that mean motherload
I've made up my mind and I swear to find the Gibbonsville gold
I've made up my mind

  • Probably one of the best beer drinkin songs around a camp fire up here in the NW....

  • love this song and your video

  • @35hankypanky Hahahaha thats pretty cool. Keep em in good condition and uh good luck lol

  • @ChristianSoldier1944 amen brother.Even though we dont agree on all music, you seem to be pretty cool.I love old style country and rock n roll.My girlfriend brought over some old mags from 1977 right after the king died. They were her grandmas collection.Lmao,i think im gonna hide them and hope she forgets about them. All the mags have big stories in there about his death. One mag is completely dedicated to Elvis in 1977.I will fight her to keep that one.lol, its in good shape too.

  • @35hankypanky Yea George Strait is legend in my eyes. No where near as big as Hank Sr. though. Again thats why i said I liked the classic country. Real music and no lies...that we know of anyway lol

  • @ChristianSoldier1944 also want to say that those you praise that sing about the armed forces done there songs for the money mostly.Notice the songs all popin up after 9/11?Its cause they wanted to make a buck and knew the people would be patriotic.Just sayin most country singers of today dont know a thing about country life or the people that live it every day.I do give props to George Strait,he is the real deal.Takes more then boots and a hat to win me over.

  • @ChristianSoldier1944 lots of singers that do country, dont really sing about life in the country.I agree that those 2 songs arent that great.Do me a favor, listen to the song called D Ray White on here.its about real country people.theres a vid on here.Cecil Brown is another great tune, country hero's and low down are great,Mississippi mud and damn right rebel proud are cool.Just listen to the words.I think you will see the truth of those songs and that there pure country.

  • @35hankypanky Well i mean stuff like "Dick in Dixie" and "Pills I Took", those have NOTHING to do with what country is really about! The way I see country music is it is set on God, country living, the United States, family, our armed forces, traditions, and living life at its best.

  • @ChristianSoldier1944 well i see why your not a fan of lll.Its in your user name.Im not judging you and your christian ways.Im sayin that he has some really great stuff, and some stuff im not crazy about. And im sure you may of only listened to a few of his songs and then judged.Either that or found out that he doesnt have the same beliefs as a christian.Because your christian, god didnt give you the right to judge others.Seams most christians think that though.

  • @35hankypanky As a matter a fact no! I can't stand modern country music! They've let it all go down hill and ruined it! But I still have no respect for the mosern Outlaws like Hank Williams III. Hank Williams Sr., George Jones, Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Conway Twitty. etc. those are the types of singers that I love and respect.
