I'm from Montreal - this was a Radio-Canada production - makes me very proud that they aired this and were so fortunate to have Mr. Hines perform (although this is the type of production which they don't do ANYMORE - what a shame).
This is the famous piece that Feodor Chaliapin in Paris points at a corner and although the paris audience did not understand anything of the russian language they were all in an awe looking at the pointed direction.
One of the finest basses ever, but under-appreciated during his long career!
