Dan Hicks at the Raven Theatre in Healdsburg, April 4, 2008. Not great image or sound, but you get a feel for this show in an intimate little theatre (at which one of the theatre employees forgot to turn off the popcorn cooker, which filled the lobby with smoke at intermission).
Between songs, his dryly humorous patter kept the audience laughing. He joked that after the break, Emmylou Harris, Bob Dylan, and Tom Waits would join him on stage. Some of us held out hope for an appearance by Waits, as he lives not far away. Alas, he did not show -- at least on stage.
The band was really great, likewise the singers.
Fragments of two songs: A Magician, and The Diplomat.
I love it when he lampoons current stars - lol! I've seen him make fun of the Grateful Dead, the Beatles, Bob Dylan, and James Taylor - ha ha! They more than deserve it.
