Please read the full description before watching the video. Thank you.

Channel 4 explores the dramatic stories of individual firemen on September 11: the stories of those who died, those who survived and those who still bear the scars.

Of the 2752 people who died on 9/11, 343 were New York firemen - by far the greatest loss of life by any emergency service in the world in a single day.

Ten years on, many of the firemen and their families are finally able to speak about this for the first time. Their courage and sacrifice made them national heroes but in the 10 years since many have paid a terrible price for their bravery.

This film tells the story of the close-knit and unusual brotherhood who call themselves 'New York's Bravest', and shows how their bold tradition of rushing into the heart of skyscraper fires cost lives - but saved many more

First broadcast by UK's Channel Four inAugust 2011.

Could people please refrain from using really bad language and also keep the insults to a minimum. If you have intelligence there is no need to devolve the language, regardless of how emotional these films make you feel. Please.

  • It's good to know there were more survivor stories other than the 14 people of "Miracle in Stairway B"

  • Just a question! But there were like 2 or 3 helicopters around the building before the second attack, why didnt the helicopters go head on with the airplane? sounds dumb but just wanna ask

  • WTH? Rat at 2:30, lower left side of the screen. Nothing against rats, but I find it very frustrating that the rat made it and no many people didn't.

  • i was talking to somebody before who lost both of their parents in the north tower, rip.

  • R.I.P Engine 5 Andre Fletcher .. i miss you man

  • @bingowings28 It was the fire department that stopped the doors being unlocked on the top floor, they were both as bad as each other. I'm pretty sure that feud or not, nobody in the police with a radio would have knowingly held that information from the firemen if they didn't think they already knew.

  • firemen of new york you made your fathers proud.you taught all of us that saving lives is what matters in the end,no matter who or when or where.BRAVO BROTHERS BRAVO.

  • @Adirondaque

Where is @variablestatus whining? And these are my uploads s/he can say whatever they want.

  • @variablestatus Seriously... go whine somewhere else....

  • you don't see the firemen bothering the occupy wall street protestors, just the police. two worlds apart for sure. the firemen would never follow cronnie laws and orders. the firemen would tell them to stick it and then crucify them themselves for us. thank you new yorks trully finest. sincerely........
