If you accidentally deleted a partition in your hard drive and are desperate to get your data and the partition back relax! this video is for you. In this screen cast I show you how to easily recover the deleted partition along with the data in that partition.

You'll need to install Testdisk and follow the instructions in the video.

  • Also...the fat32 partition I was trying to recover was on a external USB enclosure.

  • This is a great tutorial but I still was not able to recover the partition just shows no partitions available. I believe the partition table got screwed after a power fail while writing was happening. Have you used Scalpel/Forensics if you have can you please put a tutorial together, thanks in advance. BTW, your tutorials are awesome!

  • Thanks a lot. . .this was life saver for me. . thank you very much

  • I almost never comment on videos, but I have to for this one:

Thank you so much! Was seconds away from reinstalling OSX when I came across your video, the instructions are almost identical for Mac, and I now have all the files I was sure I had lost.

  • Awesome, but justo ne question, I own an HP G72 (it says just G72 on the bottom corner of my screen.) but I was messing around with a livedisk a created and deleted my maine ubuntu partition, so I re-installed ubuntu, will I have to Use the livedisk to recover my old data? or can I still use my main system?

  • TestDisk saved me!!Me and my data. Having an HP pavilion g6 and trying to make a dual boot after some experiments all the partitions deleted! Running TestDisk form a usb boot and following the instructions, managed to recover data and able to boot in windows 7. I just "write" the [SYSTEM] partition that TestDisk found at the "quick search"!!! GREAT PROGRAM !!!!!

  • what is this ubuntu???

  • I was using Ubuntu 10.10

  • what if you had shrink the disk volume and Ubuntu cannot boot up?

I have that problem and now all my files are gone.

    Please help
