The Forest City in the Heartland of The Rust Belt.

Rockford is a mid-sized city located on both banks of the Rock River in far northern Illinois. Often referred to as "The Forest City", Rockford is the county seat of Winnebago County, Illinois, USA. As reported in the 2000 U.S. census, the city was home to 150,115 people, while in the 2008 estimate, it was said to have a population of 157,272.[1] The metropolitan area has 339,178 residents as of the 2000 census. During the latter part of the 20th century Rockford was the second largest city in Illinois and is currently the largest city in Illinois outside of the Chicago Metropolitan Area. The current mayor is Lawrence J. Morrissey, an independent re-elected to a second four-year term in April 2009.

Also the hometown of the legendary Rock N' Roll band Cheap Trick, presidential candidate John B. Anderson, Tony-awarding winning actress Jodi Bensen "The Little Mermaid," actress Susan St. James, Destiny's Child singer Michelle Williams.

Rockford is also the place the Marx Brothers received their nicknames Groucho, Harpo, Chico, and Gummo. Frank Sinatra made his debut with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra in Rockford. The tour with Dorsey launched Sinatra into stardom.

  • There's a 130-year old downtown area that spans about 12 blocks and is on the banks of the gorgeous Rock River that is really cool, with great restaurants and a good art scene. You may only be familiar with the "truck stop sprawl" that is out by the tollway (I-90) and yes, that is a disgrace.

  • Couple hours maybe?

  • You effects are wonderful! The angle from which you shoot from. can i ask what equipment you are using?

  • @JuliasGallery Thanks. Canon 5D and Kessler Pocket Dolly.

  • @bbishoffproducer ... how did you obtain the timspeed effects? during the editing? My 5d doesn't do this...lol (at leat that I know of)

  • @JuliasGallery Take 300 shots over an hour and run them into a Quicktime Sequence. There's your time lapse. You can make them long exposure for even more film like effect.

  • Beautifully filmed, but Rockford is such a wasteland.

  • @sbonne19 Count your lucky stars you got out of here.

  • Actually, I like the 300 shots mixed in with the other editing. My eyes start to ache when I do over 100 hours of work... How long would it take you to put this together?

  • I stumbled upon this and loved it. Phenomenal. I grew up in Rockford but no longer live there. This featured all of the sites I know so very well, but had forgotten.

  • Home of the rock band Cheap Trick!
