Five Mugs, one containing Ipecac (vomit inducing syrup). Through various means no-one knows which mug contains the Ipecac. This was then followed by a pint of coloured water (standard water is so boring).

Then we let the good times roll.

@LMA629 Yep, they know that now; this was 15 - 20 years ago. Thank goodness we never had to use it, but more and more they've realized that inducing vomiting is not good for most poisons. Lots of water and/or milk and a 911 call seems to be the safest method now.

@kayper54 the american board of pediatrics actually strongly recommends disposing all bottles of ipecac as the stuff itself is actually a poison and can cause heart problems. in addition, a study in 2005 showed that vomiting does not completely solve poisoning and makes it harder to do other treatments such as the charcoal cleansing and antidotes. just google ipecac

@beccasmomabcd Our lovely pediatrician solved that by keeping them in stock and giving them to us for free; all you had to do was ask for a bottle.
