Its a stock LO3 in the dead of winter, not much to be impressed by. It was only meant as a reference for someone who was having troubling figuring out what was going on with their car.
Its not bad, I don't care what people say, the 305 this the 305 that, screw them, thats what a z28 is for...no i was just asking because my car shifts at an indicated 7k. Btw, it sounds great. I'm looking at a rebuild on mine, but everyone is telling me to get a 350 instead, i know rebuilding the 305 is more costly but i don't want something too crazy. The 305 should be more than enough. Whats your take on that ? keep the original motor or get a 350 ?
If all you're going for is a fun motor to work on and play with, no reason for a 350 when you already have a 305. Seals, rings, gaskets, bearings, bolts, port & polish, mild cam swap, tune and roller rockers ought to be cheap enough for a fun little car. Check out TGO for some neat 305 power tricks. A little does go a long way in that motor.
Yeah, TGO is a life saver ! The thing is, I have a really bad knock, the mechanic told me I had "severe internal engine trouble" as if i didn't know that. The thing I'm torn on is to keep the stock engine, do a rebuild for which i've been quoted atleast 1500 for or swap in a 350(carb'd) which i don't want. i like the turn key and go i don't have time to let it warm up. i could put my tbi on the 350 but that requires new injecters and a better fuel pump some new sensors and new a prom chip
Get the EBL from Dynamic EFI and some 350 injectors from CFM Tech and the rest is just cake. Swap over the harness and sensors and go for it. That would be about $600ish in parts right there to do that.
Is that to the floor ?
