This is as rare as rare gets. The Monkees perform 'She's so Far Out She's In' at the Coliseum in Phoenix, Arizona on january 21, 1967. Soundboard recording, so the vocals are buried and the drums are shy in the mix. Really raw stuff , but still enjoyable. rock on

  • I can't believe there isn't a full concert (video) of the Monkees from 67. I mean you can go out buy concert videos from The Beatles, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, The Who etc. Why didn't anyone think to record The Monkees live?

  • @Yeseniaschick Beats me :)

  • The guitar with the distinctive snarl - it particularly stands out on Circle Sky '68 and on their HQ jam of Memphis Tennessee - is that Mike's Gretsch or his Blacjk Beauty Gibson?

  • @STP43FAN1 That's his Gretsch 12 string hollowbody into a Vox Super Beatle. The picture is from that very concert.

  • wow this is amazing quality! what is this from? i'd love to have this show

  • @LeeJDiamond I posted this show complete on my channel :)

  • Is this a Nesmith song? It does sound similar to Auntie Grizelda. I know he didnt write that but I hear that song in it. This does have a Nesmith vibe to it as well

  • @mewrth Thank you. That guitar's snarl is chilling.

  • @mewrth

you are correct, these were recorded on a monographic recorder by crew member WInton Teel. The summer of 1967 concerts used professional 4 track equipment produced by Hank Cicalo.

  • @pachacutti Actually this is the only remaining recording from the winter 66/67 tour of the US. The other recordings are from the summer 67 US/UK tour. I posted this concert in full (7 parts) check out my channel. Thanks for your informative comments.
