House of Gold is another great Southern Gospel song done by The Seldom Scene. (Hank Williams wrote this classic as has been pointed out by a sharp listener!) This is from their 1993 album, "The Seldom Scene: 20th Anniversary Concert". The 2 cd set is broken into the 3 groups over the years up until that time. Enjoy!

Members:
First grouping of the band:
John Starling - lead vocals
Tom Gray - bass

Second grouping:
Phil Rosenthal - lead vocals

Third grouping:
The entire 2nd disc features the 1986-1992 band.
Lou Reid - lead vocals
T. Michael Coleman - on bass.

ALL MEMBERS: JOHN DUFFY JOHN STARLING MIKE AULDRIDGE LOU REID PHIL ROSENTHAL BEN ELDRIDGE T. MICHAEL COLEMAN TOM GRAY

  • Brilliant! No doubt John Starling was the best singer in the group.

  • @MrRazorblade999 I'm glad you enjoyed this song. Seldom Scene is excellent, period. You know more about the members than I do. I've always loved them, but didn't know about the individuals. I'm sure Starling was incredible. Their early work is spectacular. Thanks so much for your comment & I don't know how I missed it. I appreciate all comments. My best to you, Moppet

  • @MyMoppet52 I agree, Seldom Scene is brilliant. You should check out John Starling's magnificent solo album "Long Time Gone", one of my favorite country albums with a sadly underappreciated singer. Watched some of your other uploads, you have excellent taste! Keep it up!

  • @MrRazorblade999 Just wanted you to know that I checked out Long Time Gone, as best that I could with the little sound bites, and boy that is a great album! His back up is absolutely stellar also. My brakes went all the way out on my car & I have other issues so my finances are tight right now, but think I might see a new cd purchase in my near future! Thanks for the heads up. Thanks for the compliment also. I've got a lot of stuff you'd like if you wade through it. :) Moppet

  • Another great one that Hank has given to us, nicely done.

  • @bil7249k Yes. Tim O'Brien does it also in "Real Time" on a video I have. I think it's a great version also. I mentioned Hank on that one, and then forgot on this one. Thanks for the reminder. I will add it to the comments. So glad you came for a 'listen' and hope you come back anytime. My best, Moppet (Barbara)
