Don't be afraid of this procedure.... the cleanout process is no worse than too strong a curry, and the procedure is just a breeze thanks to the sedation drugs.
Just read in a post below in the states you have to pay $3257 for a colonoscopy. What if you detect markings of CA on yourself and can´t pay this? Pretty glad we have government supported healthcare here in germany, free colonoscopies and general cancer precaution for everyone beyond 40.
How come he doesn't talk about the % risks ? Perferoated colon, infection from unclean equipment and in 0.0016% of cases, death. Why? Because this is marketing for the health industry.
I felt embarrased when I was first told I should have one after 50. After that, I wanted so much to go and have one and get it over with.
When I had it, it was just like a breeze. I didn't even mind the day before. It felt so good cleaning out my colon.
Anyway, the doctor just sees it as any other body part. I just don't like when ignorant people laugh about it or say something like" she's having her butt examined" It's nothing to joke about.
I just had my colonoscopy today; I used the Ducalax/Miralax prep. I took 2 ducalex pills @ 10am & another 2 @ 11 am. Bowel movemens started at 3pm. Started gatorade mixture @ 5pm; all bowel movements finished ~8pm. The procedure itself was very easy; total time was ~3 hrs.
I am 56 and had all the markings of Colin cancer so I wrote a check for $3257 and went in. I have stage three CA and just did my last radiation and am on chemo. I might beat this thing, but for sure would have been in a casket by now if I had not for off my lazy ass and did something.
well sorry to burst everyones bubble but any invasive procedure has its risks, my father fell victin to this risk. he he walked into the doctors office on dec 2007 and came out on a stretcher ,,,he went into a coma and died in sept 2010..so much for doctors saving lives...
From what people tell me, different patients are in different states of consciousness during the procedure. Some told me I'd be all the way under, some told me I'd be groggy with little memory of the procedure, etc. As it turned out, I was awake and got to watch it live in glorious HD. I even asked the doctor questions as he went along. I barely felt a thing.

@treemagnet88 Believe it because it's true. I've been having colonoscopies for ten years so I know what I'm talking about.
