Pinks bins cause furore in Zimbabwe

A storm of controversy has been whipped up in Zimbabwe recently by an unlikely source: collection of litter bins. But these are no ordinary trashcans: bright pink, they were donated to the Bulawayo council by a gay and lesbian pressure group. Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe is an open and fierce critic of homosexuality, and some say the council should have refused the offer. But the local mayor has welcomed the donation, and says the bins will be put to use in the streets. Duration: 02:04

Look for "gay rights" on wikipedia and you'll see homosexuality is legal in most countries around the world, except some African countries and most Muslim Countries. Homosexuality is legal in China, India, Russia, Europe, the Americas... Being insulted by a homophobic is real kind of compliment :)

@83leaf Christianity originates from a particular Jewish sect in the first century A.D, not some unspecified time and place in Africa. This is from the historical record. When the Catholic and Protestant missionaries were converting Southern Africans to their versions of Christianity, they were teaching a specifically Europeanized version of Christianity, not some vague concept of "child saviors."

@83leaf LOL, you calling me "demon" is just the icing on the cake. You're not doing yourself any favors. The Christian mythos had nothing to do with the African concept of "child savior." Jesus wasn't a "child savior" anyway, he was over 30 when he was supposed to have performed all of his miracles and died for the sins of humanity.

@83leaf Christianity didn't appear in Africa until after Constantine introduced it to the Byzantine provinces in North Africa, and even then, it was Byzantine Othodox Christianity, not the Catholic and Protestant Christianity that has been imposed on much of Africa. Those were introduced in the 19th century. Unless Robert Mugabe is a member of the Coptic or Ethiopian Orthodox Church, he is enforcing the rules of a colonialist religion.

@83leaf Christianity is not from Africa. It is from the Roman province of Judea, which is in the Levant, which is technically on the Westernmost edge of Asia, thought it became popular among the Romans.
