to all of you who say this is illegal you got some 'splainin to do! do you have proof he and his conveyance are involved in commerce? the dmv defines driving as transporting goods or people and receiving directly or indirectly, monetary gain as a result. Driving requires a lisence.dmv defines motor vehicle as any conveyance that is involved in commerce and requires a registration and tag. Nowhere does it state that traveling in a conveyance means driving a motor vehicle. hence no requirements
-
@ValueFreedom unless you are not involved in commerce and then the plate is not required at all
-
You can do it, but that doesn't make it legal (it's not).

good job Sean *Ricky*

@danbeb I'm not sure where you are, but in my state it's only illegal to have no license plate or to have it obstructed. So as long as it's up you have no issues
-
Those devices are illegal. So if a cop see that on your car (even if the plate is still currently exposed) they will stop you. That's the government for ya
-
Why not just have a button for down, and a button for up?

this is freaking awesome but i'm pretty sure this is Illegal in the US. I remember reading that you can't have any type of mechanism to hide your license plate.
Thumbs up if you wanna shoot paintballs at the cameras every single fucking time you go by one

After looking at other comments (after I posted mine). No, this is not a product that needs 10 to buy. It is faulty. The plate drops over a bump. How long exactly does it take for the original "legal" plate to pull back up? Cus, if it's dropping over every "bump", then with all our potholes, it's guaranteed to stay down. With that type of non-legal plate exposed, they have a right to pull you over & harrass the shit out of you. Nice idea, asking for trouble, needs perfection big time.
