The world's most beautiful and famous have swallowed his advice. He wrote one of the biggest selling diet books of all time, and it was based on his extraordinary belief that you could eat as much as you desire and still lose weight.

His name was Dr Robert Atkins, author of the Atkins new diet revolution. To some Dr Atkins was a hero, to others his diet was scientific heresy and potentially deadly.

  • "the accepted wisdom of medical science" ? yeah...I'm pretty sure that leeches and cocaine were once "accepted widsom of medical science".....follow the money as usual. Big Agra funds most of the studies done by "medical science"...along with Big Pharma....eat your Cheerios and take your statins people.....don't buck the system.

  • @tatsumakisempyukaku ummm ..... all agricultural civilisations relied heavily on a carb source. Whether potatos, rice or other grains, that made up most of their bulk.

  • This is just the paleo diet. That is to say, the diet our ancient ancestors had before. Agriculture which was mainly meat, fat, seasonal veggies & fruits, nuts, roots and seeds. If a person can survive infancy and childhood and survive a saber tooth, our ancestors were capable of living into their 60's and 70's while being quite active

  • Heya! Has anyone severely considered DietOramy diet (do a google search)? I have learned of a handful of marvelous things regarding it and my colleague spent a ton of extra pounds utilizing it.

  • I was afraid of becoming Diabetic when I discovered I had high fasting blood sugar at a health fair. I stopped/reduced my intake of foods I knew ( and later learned ) to affect my blood sugar. My curiosity and lots of reading and research led me to Atkins, there I found the science behind how my new choices led me to loose nearly 85 lb in six months, made huge improvements to my blood sugar, and dropped my cholesterol 40 points.
