Separation Day 2 (Nick)
"Nick." Denise softly said as she played with Nick's curls. "Time to wake up."
Nick just grunted. Denise left the room to get herself ready.
Nick forced himself to wake. He wanted to call Joe and this would be his only opportunity all morning. He pulled his cell phone out and dialed Joe's number. No rings, just voice mail again. Nick sighed before leaving Joe another message. "Hey, babe. Morning. Mom told me that you got grounded from your phone. I'm gonna be at the convention all day. I'll leave another voice mail when I get out, I guess. Love you. Bye." Nick let out a sigh after he closed his phone.
Nick's day mostly consisted of more seminar type projects. They were pretty cool, Nick thought. He met more people today. Still, his thoughts mainly concentrated on Gary. Nick thought about how open Gary had been about his sexuality. Nick hoped that he could talk to Gary about his relationship, and more importantly, his problem.
The first and only brake during the day that Nick got was at dinner time. Nick had just been planning on sitting with his mom, but Gary had found Nick and invited him over to another table. Nick happily agreed.
Nick was hoping that Gary had other friends to sit with other than Kyle, Lisa and Stacy. He had just been too embarrassed by the whole situation last night that he would die if he saw any of them again.
"So, hows day two for you so far?" Gary asked kindly as he ushered Nick away from his mother.
"Great. I've already learned so much. I just wish my brothers were here too. I know they would have loved it."
"How many brothers do you have?" Gary asked.
"Three. Two older and one younger." Nick answered. Nick wanted to get the conversation off of his brothers. He regretted bringing it up in the first place. He didn't want to start talking about Joe; he wasn't sure if he could stop if he started. "What about you?"
"I got a little sister. She's around your age. I would introduce you, but I know how much you love your girlfriend."
Boyfriend. Nick mentally corrected Gary. "Yeah, sure do." Nick said almost sarcastically.
Gary picked up on it. "What? Trouble in paradise?"
"Sorta. Its complicated." Nick admitted.
Gary signaled to his friends that we wouldn't be joining them. Then, lets take a walk. I'm great with relationship advice.
Short one, so I may post later today.
