Just a week before the city of New Orleans would be changed forever, a staple of Bourbon Street and the New Orleans musical scene was just doing what he always did behind the keys. Johnny Gordon graciously allowed me to videotape one of his signature performances- The House of the Rising Sun.
Thanks for the memories, Johnny.
@NCDandylion Loving musicians who have given their lives to their art is a unique gift/burden understood by few who have not been there. Thank you, Deanna, for all you've been and done.

We had the pleasure of meeting Johnny on our honeymoon shortly after Katrina. I considered it a privileged and am sad to hear of his passing. He was a true Bourbon Street steady that will be sorely missed! He was very gracious to me and my wife and I will never EVER forget it!

Thank you for sharing this video. My husband spent about 8 months in New Orleans after Katrina hit. Johnny was one of the many things he chose to share with me when i traveled there to visit in the spring. Johnny's voice and character were pure sweetness. Never turned down a request. With his little alligator grabby thing. Man...I'm so grateful you posted this. Brings back so many amazing memories.

It is wonderful to see something new posted regarding Johnny Gordon. For those who don't know, Johnny died in March 2008 of complications from Alzheimer's. I am his former wife and I brought Johnny to my home in NC when he could no longer care for himself. Our son, Patrick, and I brought him home to NOLA for his funeral, second line and interment. I miss him more with each passing day. If any of you have more videos of Johnny, I would love for you to post them. Thanks.
