Hello fellow YouTubers!
This is the first piece of the six lovely pieces (P. 44) that Ottorino Respighi composed for piano. I believe that Respighi is sort of a neglected composer, because he is overshadowed by Puccini and Verdi. The thing I like about Respighi's music is that it isn't overall operatic. One key thing to point out is that he studied with one of the greates Russian composers of the 19th century, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov.A great man once said "A student is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. It is enough for the student to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master". Respighi obviously received great musical education from a great teacher, and we can observe this in his music.
I hope you have enjoyed the piece, and have a nice day!
Didn't know Respighi wrote music in this style. I'm a big fan of the Roman Triptych, but this suite is a revelation! Thanx for bringing this side of Respighi to light.

I really enjoyed this piece, I agree with you, Respighi is unfairly neglected. He was such a great composer. As we can see here, he wrote beautifully for the piano! It's sad that whenever people think of Italian classical music, they think of operas: Puccini, Verdi etc, people should think also of Respighi, Well, he is composer of the month soon on our channel Reuben, so hopefully we will be able to promote loads of his music ;) I look forward to hearing more of these delightful piano pieces!
