First of all--How do you like his haircut!? We roached it a while ago, so now Ozzy's sporting a mohawk. I have another video of shaving off his mane and his dental work, but YT killed the music. Those clips will just have to make it to his year in review video.

Today's main goal was to work on balance and to get Ozzy over the green plank jump. As you watch, you'll see:

:33 our brief work on lateral movement
:56 practicing our balance in a canter circle
1:11 one of Ozzy's breeder's favorite lines, "You go where you look." I looked down at his shoulder and my whole weight shifted forward when asking for a halt. Fail.
1:41 Ozzy correcting his own lead after the jump.
2:02 Ozzy's first trip over the green plank jump.
2:07 Our first 2'6" jump! :)
2:09 The moment in the jump where you can see he's pretty much landed from the jump before his hind end has taken off. Is Ozzy doomed to canter-stride over every jump? Really? A 2'6" oxer wasn't a challenge? Even on your first try at 2'6" and your first try at an oxer?
2:18 Picking off the end jump from the combination on the wall. I was really proud of him for being so brave--this is a new angle for him.
2:30 Ozzy swapping his own lead over the fence. We haven't really started working on this over fences yet. He's just starting to kind of get it.
2:58 Ozzy out in the field pre-ride. Just thought he looked cute.
3:29 Ozzy in the isle post-ride with his new "Back on Track" wraps on. When I went to Syracuse for the Sporthorse Cup a couple of weeks ago, my fiance caught them as they (and countless other wraps and tee shirts) were flung into the stands. Yay free horse stuff! :)

  • I love how chilled he is about them! Hahahaha just a step here or there :) Come on Mum, I can do bigger than these!

  • @Al0haAmy Thanks again for watching! This was quite some time ago; however, the following spring we free-jumped him over 4'9"--which he did with ease. That video is on my account somewhere...

  • he looks like he would make an awesome eventer with his jumping and trot streches :)

  • @MadDawg11794 I'd be lying if I said that eventing hadn't crossed my mind. He LOVES to work in the grass and takes the scary stuff in stride very well. It's a consideration; he'll have to tell me which he likes better--the jumpers or the eventing. :)

  • hes a good looking boy - how exciting that you backed him and now hes going so well!!! hes looking good - haircut is cute - suits him...

my young girl is being broken at the moment so I hope she comes out even half as nice as ozzy - he really is gorgeous!

  • @HondaThoru Oh he's not done yet... I think he's about done growing up, but not anywhere near done filling out. :)

  • @xxxligeiaxxx Gotta bless those fiancees then. Well he looks pretty good with it and it makes his broad neck stand out even more. Is he still growing and filling in or is he finally done expanding outwards.??

  • @wendytyme Glad you like it. I'm hoping he has some pretty big fences in him... when he's ready, I'm willing to go as high as he's willing to take me. :)

  • @ElmingtonJumper Thanks! :)
