I took this with a Flip Video Minot at the Augusta Heritage blues Week in July of 2009. It was a rare opportunity for me to hang out with Red and get the story along with the song, We are extremely lucky to have such a great man in our midst who is not only a legend himself but also an uncommon link to the legends we all worship. He knew them, he lived with them, can tell you what tuning they used, what slide they used, and then rip into their music with great skill. He blends all these influences into his own music which is delivered from the heart in only a way that a man that has walked his path can.
BTW, he put down his Gibson J40 to play my Rogue Triolian Resonator.

  • Anyone know what tuning he plays in, I'm guessing open c, but can't find any conformation.

  • @rghunnicutt Hey, I think it is open G (Spanish tuning). Red mentions that at the end of the vid.

  • Loved this. Ive always played guitar but ive always wanted to play slide should i buy this one or the rogue spider? If anyone could help me that would be very cool

  • Thanks for the comment. I love this quitar, also own the spider and have owned the Rogue brass body as well. They are all great entry level guitars that with a little tweaking can hold their own against those holy grail guitars. To answer your question, IMHO the triolian is warmer, the spider has a twangy quality that makes all tunes sound better and the brass is very delta sounding. They are all great bargains just put decent strings on them and change the nut to bone. Best Blues
