When I first heard this song, it had a really huge impact on me because even as she was singing about breaking up with her boyfriend, she was bouncy and cheerful, like, "I know this is the right thing for me." I totally envy that.

She wrote this, apparently, as a response to her record company's urging her to write more love songs--hence the title, "I'm Not Gonna Write You a Love Song."

@Gobee129 Yes--it's short for "May God bless you," which is just basically a reminder, in general, for believers and nonbelievers that God is watching over you always and that He'll be with you and bless you in His own time anyway. It's also a sort of reminder to count the blessings He has granted you--starting with life, love, and laughter. :)
