Apple had a Unix long before Mac OS X - it was called A/UX and it ran both Unix and Mac System 7 applications!
It was pretty funny cuz it showed the usual Mac HD icon on the desktop, but it was named "/" and you couldn't rename it since it was the root directory. :)

It absolutely cracks me up to watch young linux geeks cry, "linux is not unix". It is totally different. Anyone who worked in the early 80's knows that Unix is the mother of all today's operating systems. Windows is an adopted bastard, as MS keeps adding unix-like commands.

There is a difference between Mac OS and Mac OS X.
The X is traditional UNIX. ;-).
If some retard says Mac OS is better than Unix. Then I would say: That's why It died for Unix :-).
