Thank you for responding. Bad news the crankshaft key is stripped and the crank is toast as well as the flywheel. Would it hurt to use a 1983 engine that was designed to use a belt drive? The only difference is the output shaft is longer so a pulley can be installed instead of the belt drive pulley. I hope the sprocket doesn't walk. Why would they use a pin instead of a real square key way? I tell you some people just don't think. Thank you again.

No problemo!, I'm actually in Canada man, I'm 16 right now so insurance is going to be a pain in the ass, But if I had the bike and was in America, hell yeah im down for that!
I am having problems with my Honda Cm250 Custom with uses the same motor. The small lines on each side of the cam gear are lined up and the piston is at top dead center. But the flywheel isn't where it's suppose to be. I don't see the T in the small window. Is it possible I lost the key that sits on the crankshaft? There was a bunch of metal shavings on the inside of the flywheel. Can that be fixed?

@altlandf - Doesn't sound good.. I would remove the cover and see where the notch ended up on the flywheel and go from there.. it could be stripped and just spinning on the shaft.. good luck! -Rob
