BRAND-X And So To F.. OLD GREY WHISTLE TEST with PHIL COLLINS - drums and vocal. Courtesy of Mark Murdock- a very old Brand-X acquaintance, invited to the first rehearsals at Island Studios in Hammersmith London 1975 via Phil Collins. This site is in return for

  • bbqboyee, I couldn't have said it any better. It's ashame that most people only know Phil Collins as an 80's soft rock artist and not as one of the best drummers in rock history. He's like a maelstrom behind the kit; simply amazing to hear and watch him play.

  • I love this. Sounds like something Camel would do around the Moon Madness era. Thank you for posting.

  • BRAND X has few peers-Weather Report & Return to Forever- that's about it man. Percy Jones is one of the best bass players ever and John Goodsall is unreal,Robin Lumley throws it down mean& not to mention Phil Collins & Morris Pert really lay it down

  • a somewhat more cerebral incarnation of carlos santana!

  • The keyboard part at 1:40 (or so) looks like he is using "overhand" technique like at the start of "Lamb Lies Down on Broadway" .

  • I was never a huge fan of the Collins-only Genesis and never thought much much of Collins in Genesis. I had heard Brand-X when I was in my early 20's and only later discovered who Collins was and then he was drummer for Brand-X and I was just amazed.

  • Damn, music used to be so fuckin' cool.

  • Goodsall, Jones and Lumley - class acts to a man. Why did Collins bail for Genesis? Cash? The others carried on with the project, and imho produced music far more intersting than Genesis ever did.

  • Lest ye forget

  • @FOAMER103061 John Goodsall
