A bit late, eh? I guess you´re talking about the litebar. Well, basically it´s to tell you how far from the right swath you are. Left or right, on a basic one. Some also tell you how far from, horizontally, you are from it; left-right when at it; and how long until you´re done with it. A lovely toy to have!

First season flying? Just curious since you said you were "learning" about the business. Where are you flying? I flew 4 seasons in AR in Ag Cats, and a littel bit of 301 time. Loved every minute of it, too. I fly pipeline patrol here in OK and TX now, but would love the chance to do aerial application again.
