Dragonshy

This is probably the best episode so far! Except Episode 6, of course...
Just listen to that epic battle prep theme, and the equally inspiring "mountain climb" theme. Makes me think of the 1977 Rankin/Bass "The Hobbit" soundtrack... what do you think?

There are some problem lines (2:16, 2:25, 2:37, 8:32, and 12:03), but you can barely hear them. Also, the various roars/snores could not be edited out, but I don't really see that as a problem. At least the dragon's actual speaking part cleaned up just fine!

I could not quit giggling while captioning this episode. Enjoy!

  • What software was used to rip out the voice so flawlessly?

  • @BellyJellySmelly Just Audacity and a lot of manual labor!

  • The music from 9.02 to 9.18 really shows the composer's ability to make something EPIC out of a kid's show. I dunno, it just had a really nice, wide scale to it. Really beautifully orchestrated. :) Everything else in this episode's just as awesome. Glad these videos are here to demonstrate. :D

  • I was wondering, can I use your vocal free videos for my fandub? Please let me know thanks :)

  • That bit at 7:10 is beautiful. I can't get enough of it

  • Anyone else hear the Fellowship theme from LotR, starting at about 7:13 and repeated several times?

    I'm not saying it's a ripoff but it's a nice shout out.

  • Angel Bunny: 20% harder core than any other rabbit. EVER.

  • I love how you captioned Fluttershy's various sounds, like *mew* and *meep*.

  • I love the travel music that plays several times throughout this episode. I wonder if William Anderson has a full length track of it hidden on his computer somewhere.

  • ten stars!! the best vidio ever. you see this the volume is down i looked for.. you know i mean.

  • Hoofs up dude, great editing.

  • Delicious. Feels like I'm watching an old movie.

  • @BellyJellySmelly Because the studio wouldn't release the files themselves. The final product is in 5.1 surround, and the vocal tracks are usually always only on the front speakers, as that's where you expect them to from from. The music is unattached to any position in the image, and usually goes on all the channels. As I said, I'm guessing that he cut the front speakers would leave the music, and the reverb from the voices (as that is applied to all channels too). But that's just a guess.

  • One of my favorites in terms of BGM! Great job here.

  • The mountain climbing theme is almost certainly based on the Fellowship theme from the Lord of the Rings films. Search for "The Ring Goes South" on YouTube and jump to about 1:15. :-)

  • @DavidLarsenM1 True, but wouldn't he have to have the files from the studio themselves? I mean, They are on seperate channels, but the final product is one track towards one video.

  • @BellyJellySmelly The music and voices are on seperate channels, I'm guessing he just cut one of them.

  • I never notice how Rainbow Dash makes the sound track 20% cooler just by her being there.

  • Nice work, helps showcase Will Anderson's great soundtrack :)

I just noticed that 4:46 sort of reminds me of the Final Fantasy victory music
