  • Im gutted, when I was younger my late father used to talk about Ted Heath & his band, its only now with the advent of youtube and maturity that I can really appreciate his taste from that war time era!

This is swing/dance music at its best.

  • the best big band ever !

  • lovely watching Bert Ezzard! if there are more vids out there with Ezzard in please would you let me Know thank you xx

  • Superb!!!

  • absolutely great memories of this at newcastle city hall in 1956 ith all the lights turned off and the whole band joining in with the drumming

  • @musician992008 Thanks for that info Jimmy Coombes is my Uncle and I lost contact with him in the early 60s I never realised he moved to Canada as my cousin Kay never informed me but good to know he carried on with his career after the band finished after Teds death.

  • Ken Kiddier (baritone), Leslie Gilbert (lead alto), Don Savage (second alto). It's on the Carnegie Hall CD, recorded about three months after this was filmed at the Hammersmith Palais in February 1956.

  • The drummer from this band, Ronnie Verrell, was the drummer for the Muppet character Animal. That's how I discovered him. Incredible talent!

  • Hot stuff, man!

  • The huge international popularity of "Hawaiian War Chant", which started as an actual Hawaiian song in the 1860s, always astounds me.
