Victor Feldman (vibraphone)
Scott LaFaro (bass)
Stan Levey (drums)

Although he performed for only six years (1955-1961), LaFaro's innovative approach to the bass redefined jazz playing bringing an "emancipation" introducing "so many diverse possibilities as would have been thought impossible for the bass only a short time before" , and inspired a generation of bassists who followed him.

  • How quick they play! Is this the original speed? Isn't it digitally processed?

  • Yes..is the original speed.

  • wow...that was really good. Those guys could play fast back then. Levey was a left hander but played drums right...he was very good at those tempos. An unsung hero of the drums. Up there with Max Roach and Roy Haynes if you ask me.

  • Scott LaFaro...il padre di contrabbassisti, colui che al pari di jaco ha elevato lo strumento non rinchiudendolo nei confini del mero accompagnamento!!!!

  • My father has a new wesite at victor feldman.com

  • this is hardbebop

  • Stan Levy was a left handed drummer. He played for many years at Howard Rumsey's "Lighthouse" in Hermosa Beach in L.A. Victor Feldman was a teriffic piano player who really cooked on the vibes. And Scot LaFaro was untouchable when it came to bass. I saw this group appear live on a jazz television show and it was unreal to see and hear them play so fast and so accurate. It was such a loss to lose Scotty so young.
