@nailliqueur Linguists disagree the vernacular of Taiwanese is a offshoot of Hokkien/Minnan language. The official language of Taiwan is Guoyu (National Language), quite similar but not entirely, to Putonghua (Common speech)/Mandarin standardized form.

I'd say that there is no such thing as Taiwanese language because Taiwanese people speak Mandarin, but they don't use the simplified characters of the mainland.
