The Great Lost Follies Original Cast Album, Part Two. This is reconstructed from two studio recordings and one live. The live is cleaned and remixed from crude stereo. Of the butchered cuts on the OC recording, the Finale ("Live, Laugh, Love") is probably the most butchered and represents most poorly what was on stage (well after "Rain / Paree / Baby"). And to my knowledge the 'nervous breakdown' ending has never been achieved as it was originally here. This is part of the complete project, remaking the lost should-have-been-album from scattered parts. This is the last part I'll post; hoping it will all be issued some day. Again, as with the Prologue posted, this is an audio presentation, with a static visual. LISTEN.

  • I read along to this with my copy of the vocal score. It's extremely upsetting in the best possible way.

  • @MattBarlow I just put up the complete follies sequence including this (slightly better version), nearly a half hour. All the recordings I used live and studio seemed to follow the written score very carefully, there may be a bar or two of repetition cut or edited it, but I don't even think I did that.

  • thanks for this - while other recordings of Follies may come and go for those of us lucky enough to have seen the original , it's those performances which are burned in our memories. Bravo for bringing it back to us, the way it should have been in the first place.

  • And Sondheim said John McMartin was his favorite Ben, in his recent book.

  • His "STOP!" is wrenching. Great stuff.

  • Fantastic! Thank you so much for uploading. :D

  • @ivelosthewilltolive He was fantastic! A great actor!

  • I have waited nearly an eternity to hear this so much. Thank you for posting and let's hope that this does get mixed and released. I cannot wait. Filled with anticipation. It is the composer's most iinnovative, ambitious score and the show was treated so abominably by the critics.

  • Sounds great. Thx

  • It's chilling to hear Ben's breakdown, especially when he confesses to using Sally.
