Doesn't matter what kind of tiller you use... or do it by hand. Just get out and DO IT!!! You will need that food next winter.

You don't need to push down on a rear-tine tiller to dig into the soil, you just need to hold it still and it digs in on its own. Besides, rear-tine tillers can dig in deeper.

Them front tine tillers are good enough if your tilling the same spot every year..But the rear tine are what you want if your doing harder ground and they are a lot more money thus I have to stick with my old front tine tiller but I am glad to have it and I just love it for what I do..
Thanks for sharing and allowing me to put my 2 cents in :)

@joetoslow20 it depends on where you live, there are sites that you can check out that will tell you the best time to plant whatever ; like the different foods or even roses, check the sites for the area of where you live and for what it is you want to plant, sorry i can't think at the moment what those sites are but just do a little research and you can find the answers :) but normally planting times for things is after hard winter is done and the ground is thawed and no more frosts expected,

-
i still would like to know when is the best time to start growing the potatoes?
-
lol. wow you posted this on my birthday two years ago and now that I'm planting potatoes I just found it. lol
-
I would rather use a spade

@survivalistboards my rear tine tiller is so easy to use.. before a had a front tine tiller and that thing would jump and run you to death.and with a rear tine tiller the wheels are pulling and mine digs in so good i love the rear tine tiller. get a rear tine tiller man
-
@survivalistboards If you have any conifers near there the ash will work well but pacific coast is right, maybe find a spot in your yard near some pines or something and start mixing it in the soil there?
-
I find they grow better in the ground than in raised beds!
Nonsense
that tiller takes a lot more work to handle than a rear tine tiller
My rear tine tiller digs in and there is not work on the operater at all even the wheels are driven
also front tine tillers jump up and down
rear tine dig in you do not push on them
your information is biased on this video

dave777blaster - I disagree - I have also used front and rear tine tillers, and I prefer front tine.
