Everyone's eyes will be on the regional banks this week with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.'s takeover of IndyMac Bancorp and the investigation into Wachovia Corp.'s auction-rate securities business.
On July 22 Yahoo! Inc. will release earnings, which may sway Yahoo! shareholders votes at the proxy election on Aug. 1. The Deal has developed a slideshow for CEO Jerry Yang's board and Carl Icahn's proxy board and bios.
On July 22 Bentley Pharmaceuticals Inc.'s shareholders will be voting on the $360 million acquisition by Israeli generic drugs maker Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. Teva also purchased its U.S. rival Barr Pharmaceuticals Inc. for $8.9 billion on Friday, July 18.
Republic Services Inc. rejected Waste Management Inc.'s $6.2 billion acquisition offer. Republic and Allied Waste management Inc., the No. 2 and No. 3 U.S. garbage companies, agreed to an all-stock merger June 23 to directly compete with Waste Management.
July 25 is the EU's deadline for Hewlett-Packard Co.'s $13.9 billion acquisition of Electronic Data Systems Corp.
