  • mxdazn, if your goal is to build muscle then use a weight that allows you to complete 8-10 shrugs, once yuo can do this add more weight and keep going. Use this principle for all your lifts and you will build muscle, so long as you are eating right - lots of protein.

    by what your saying it sounds like you where talking about pullups/chinups rather then curls xD

    even if you use really heavy weight, and bounce around a lot, the stabilization work your core and back has to do is minimal,

    and when using correct form your upper back is stationary, chest isn't really activated, delts mildly activated, but still minimal.

    so other muscles besides the biceps the forearms and the brachialis(in the lower portion) nothing is getting a workout from curls.
