  • Myleene Klass. Classical pianist and former member of short lived pop group Hear Say. Katherine Jenkins. Classical mezzo soprano. Currently the biggest selling female classical singer in the world. America is too big. It's inhabitants seem to believe that everything happens there and most are ignorant about what happens in the rest of the world.

  • @PeadophileBeard We have a right to be fat and mouthy. We kicked your asses twice. Then we saved your asses twice. 1776, 1812 1918, 1941.

  • I will be the first to admit my knowledge of singers is limited. And I know that the most popular is too often seen as the best. However to call Boyle an ordinary or only a belter seems to be a bit harsh.

  • @ mike118117 ... I hope 'eating your words' was tasty enough for your trollish appetite!!! Susan's second album 'The Gift' (a mere Xmas album) was No. 1 on both the UK and US charts as you must know by now. BTW, Susan is the ONLY solo artist in recording history to have No. 1 albums on both the US and UK charts within a year's time!!!!! By February of this year, Ms. Boyle has sold 14 MILLION ALBUMS in just 14 MONTHS ..... LOL!!!

  • @Ardalla555 I agree with you about Ruthie Henshall. I saw her in Les Mis way back in the early 1990s at the Palace Theatre and she was terrific. SuBo is a very ordinary singer by West End standards. Her popularity stems from who she is rather than how good a singer she is. At her best she is a "belter" with precious little else on offer, and there is no shortage of those about. I must point out that Scotland is part of Great Britain so SuBo is british.

  • I was frankly surprised when Brits embraced Subo so quickly with what was only a fair rendition of 'I Dreamed a Dream'. Ruthie Henshall has owned that song for years and she gets only a passing nod and a ho-hum. Aftering listening to Ruthie at the TAC, why would anyone pay any attention to Subo? Ruthie is British; the TAC was British.; Subo is not even English. We americans can be excused for being idiots. Most of us have never even heard of of Les Mis. Why is Subo so popular?

  • @mike118117 Hats of f to you. I guess, I deserved that. You snared me in with "expensive" I thought you were being snobby again. Anyway ,I'm only partly aristocratic. The truth is my grandmother was a 'John Tiller 'who fell pregant to a French Nobleman ,who promptly dumped her. Who knows ,maybe thats where my pomposity comes from. I'm not perfect, nobody is, not even you. Sincere apologies and kindest regards!!

  • @dossery100 What on earth are you talking about you pompous ass. No I am not rich but neither am I poor. I choose my interests and spend my money as I see fit. I do not own a car, I don't drink or smoke. I eat at home and not in expensive restaurants and when in London I stay in modest hotels. That way I can afford high class entertainment. I notice that as a self promoting 'aristocrat', you display a high level of snobbery in mentioning it. If the coronet fits, wear it. Kindest regards.

  • @mike118117 Do I take it from that, that you are rich.? Well ,that makes two of us. At least, we have something in common, though as an aristocrat I would never mention it. It's those who rise in class that are the real snobs. If the cap fits, wear it. Kindest regards.

  • @dossery100 My mirrors are far too expensive for me to risk damaging them by standing naked in front of them.
