Using the Keris Again in UMNO Youth Meet 2007

Umno Youth head Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein has declared in advance "It is important that we continue to do it so that the issue has not become .. it becomes desensitize Because, unless you ban the keris altogether why should we be apologetic or be defensive about it. We have made a decision and we will explain our position without any fear"
There was nothing wrong in doing so as long as it was a symbolic gesture, he said the last time he brandished it.
The keris episode has caused a lot of uneasiness among the non-Malays who felt Umno was trying to perpetuate Malay dominance.
The traditional weapon did not belong only to the Malays, said Hishammuddin.

"The young people today no longer see it as a symbol to uphold ketuanan Melayu (Malay dominance)."

second, keris is not malay heritage. it's javanese (indonesia). so nothing to proud of with keris.
