  • It's funny how tv personalities like Oprah, sort of "cover up" their old tv persona. They don't really want you to know about it. Everything is so image conscious now. "Special lighting", lol.

Things in the 80's were so much *relaxed*. There wasn't this pressure to be perfect all the time. There's an authenticity to the 80's that is unfortunately long gone.

  • @jb2134 Oprah does this especially because her talk show during the 80's was way more like an ordinary talk show. From what I've seen it was just as trashy, sensationalistic and exploitative as "Donahue". Her show now is like a visit to Grandma's house.

  • The fisherman in the Wrigleys ad, played Rose's cousin Sven in the "Golden Girls"

  • He also played Mike Love in the terribly cheesy Beach Boys biopic from the early 90's with the fake beards. That's what I know him from.

  • 1987 -- the year 80s hair became a parody of itself. look at cheryl jennings and oprah

  • I'm pretty sure Oprah's hair effected the movement of the tides that year.

I have to agree that the "Lawn Eating people" commerical is FRIGHTENING! Very "Poltergeist"

  • Thank you for the Loving promo!

That Nissan ad is pitched to the wrong market.

The carpet ad is scary. I'd blocked it out.

  • The carpet commercial is kind of weird/cheesy/disturbing

  • It takes a real talented actor/comedian to play floor carpeting. Also, the woman in the "Channel 7 News" promo has awesome hair.

  • Awesome. Dizzying trip down amnesia lane... :)

  • Ahh...the beginning of the end of "Moonlighting".

Did Don Rickles need money that bad back then? He couldn't even get them to let him do it as a voiceover?

I love how the mom in the lawn care commercial doesn't seem the least bit concerned that the yard just ate her family.

I wouldn't date your dispatcher, Certs pilot guy. When you break up, don't expect to work during the day ever again!

I had one of those mini-Zeniths. It worked pretty well and lasted about 15 years or so.

  • @80sCommercialVault Another one that comes to mind is Bill O'Reilly. Remember when he use to host Inside Edition, a tabloid, gossip show? But they don't really want you to think about that.

Old Opah was basically the same as montel williams, donahue, etc. Its scary how powerful some have become over the last 20 years, just by changing their image or perception.

  • Good thing I never saw that Green Sweep ad. Mess my mind up even more.

  • I loved Sugar Bear when I was little. That Wrigley Spearmint Gum commercial was playing in one of our videos when my niece was around three, we had just gotten a puppy and she was under the coffee table with the puppy and my father kept telling her "Put her DOWN Danielle!" well 22 years later her son, my great nephew had a puppy and we kept telling HIM the same thing. "Put the puppy DOWN Izaiah" Anso V carpet was not good, we had some and a little boy spilled fruit punch on it.
