Here we make a brief examination of two techniques from Sweatenhams Quarterstaff. These simple techniques illustrate the concept of "Invitation".

I apologise for my lack lustre speaking, it was the end of a very long weekend of training and test cutting.

Stefan Brachman who assisted me was with us at that time for only a few months and was very helpful in these videos, by kindly staying behind to do more after most people had left.

  • Very nice. A couple of minor points though:

    - Swetnam rather than Sweatenham.

    - Properly you want your rear hand at the very butt end for Swetnam.

    - Beating the staff fully down is definitely effective and done by both Silver and Wylde, but IIRC Swetnam wants you to make a shorter beat keeping the point up.

    Still good quarterstaff though.

  • gents, thanks-rg
