This video is addressed to creationists, in reference to some of the (you'd think) easily corrected misconceptions about evolution. No, it's NOT PURELY RANDOM! genetic systems...being controlled by the internal environment of cell to sensory input from external environment produces calculated leaps forward in evolution. This contradicts the idea of genetic determinism and random mutation. Random mutation accounts for a few adaptations, natural genetic engineering coupled with symbiogenesis and other hypotheses accounts for a calculated non-random source of new information. In other words, your entire argument is now a mute point in light of evidence.

The diversity of the biosphere is a FACT. Common ancestry is strongly suggested. Evolution is not a theory, it's a model. Neo-Darwinian evolution is a theory. The mechanism for said theory is mutation/selection/replication­. Said mechanism is insufficient to account for the data. Punctuated equilibrium is a theory. Said theory lacks a convincing mechanism, although it does allude to the environments larger role. The Third Way (Shapiro) is a theory. Said theory puts forth genetic systems....

Evolution is a theory though. If a better theory fits the facts then that becomes the leading theory. There are numerous facts that this theory explains, but this does not make evolution a fact. Any scientist who thinks different is a pretty bad scientist. Evolution is the best current explanation for the observable facts we see before us, but once we start trying to fit facts to the theory it is no longer science, it is religion.

And if you are ever involved in a paternity case and your put your trust in the results reached by the test, do so knowing that our understanding of evolution is what got you there.
