The last point, was that as far I know there was nothing raised officially, either by the two people involved or by the marshal who was standing less then three metres.
It is very dangerous to assume things simply by looks. There were a number of kills and incidents that day that 'looked' bad, after talking to the 'victim' they said that it was all fine and only looked worse. People presuming the worst in this case has had MASSIVE ramifications for the people involved.

Something else to consider is that by looking at this video we have no idea of how the people involved felt. If you follow the course the person striking you actually see him gently place his weapon on a legged combatant to kill him and a short time latter he himself is killed by an arrow which he acknowledges and leaves the field. In light of those two acts I find it very hard to believe that there was ANY malicious intent on his behalf in the first strike you are talking about.

Sorry bad wording. I meant that the two people involved were in opposing units that had engaged each other. As a result both combatants are automatically engaged with each other.
When you watch the two forces hit, the one of the right collapses and is wrapped by the attacking one. If the person striking had NOT been part of the original unit then he would have been obligated to either engage before striking or use the killing from behind convention. As he was already engaged.....

It is all good - I tend to call everyone younger than me "Lads". I was enthused how many female fighters we had on the field this festival. I'm hoping to get more from our college in armor for next year

My bad :P..I apologise, I used to fight too. Tend to forget that in armour we all kinda look the same and so generalised :)
